Missed opportunity

I was travelling home from kent by train, while i was waiting i walked to the end of the platform for a smoke.
stood alone was a man in his i should say thirties, he noticed my rucksack was unzipped and asked if he could close it for me, i said yes as i had not noticed.
we chatted and he told me he was air crew travelling to visit his family.
i have never had a gay relationship and i'm not sure he is gay, but just felt i wanted to get to know him better, and if he was gay to maybe get to know him better.
unfortunately the train arrived and i had left my luggage with my travel companions, so had to leave before i had the chance to exchange numbers.
now i'm full of regret he seemed such a really nice guy, someone i could feel relaxed with.
i'm a married man in my 60s and have never had a male friend that i feel i could have a relationship with.
lesson learned feel something act on it.
