I did what I had to do
I was barely 20, walking home from my job working in a gas station, it was just after 10 PM.
Up ahead, about a block away, was this young woman walking the same direction as me. The night was warm, and I could see her clearly due to the street lights. The lights only reached to the end of the block up ahead.
She crossed the next street, which was lined with bushes. I saw a man step out behind her, he grabbed her and pulled her into the bushes. I heard her scream, saw his hand come up to grab her mouth. He never looked my way, or he would have seen me, I was maybe 150 feet away.
I ran up there, the man was hitting her, while tearing at her clothing. I got him in a choke hold from behind, managed to get him off of her, he was large, larger than my 175 pounds.
I bore down with all my strength, he struggled and hit at me but I was behind, his efforts ineffectual. Finally he went limp. The woman jumped up and ran away, I never did find out who she was.
I left the man lying there and went home.
The next day, on my way to work, police cars were there, I saw the man on a stretcher, covered completely. I went on to work, never told a soul.
There was a paragraph in the papers about him being found by a passerby deceased.
That was 30 years ago, I think I killed a man, never said a word, now I am.

In my state, it is legal to take a life to defend a life. I don't see a problem the way you reported it. The way things are going, were going to see more self defense ( or defense of others) killings because law enforcement is being dismantled. If this story is true, I wouldn't waste another thought on it.
