She's leaving me

Let me start by saying I am married, and have been for 20 years. I work with a woman whom I'm not married to, but I would marry her in a heart beat if we weren't married to other people. We have worked closely together for the last 14 years st our place of employment. Some good days, some bad days. We've been together so long that we know things about eachother that our spouses don't know. We have fought like a married couple, danced together, and loved together. Yes, we have even had sex. Our spouses suspect we like eachother a little too much and don't allow us to hang out with eachother outside work. I know it's crappy but we do love our spouses too, so we abide by their request. This makes it difficult when her or I take vacation days.

I'm on vacation for the holidays, and she called me at home. My wife gave me that look, but I told her there must be a problem at work, so went to the other room. My friend proceeded to tell me that she had found another job and was putting in her two weeks notice. She would be gone by the time I returned from holiday. Then she started crying, saying she didn't want to go, but had to. Her husband had been transferred out of state and needed to start his new position in January.

I am devastated that she's leaving. I love this wonderful woman like she's my own wife. I know she doesn't want to leave, but there's nothing we can do about it. It's like I'm dealing with a divorce from a woman whom I've never been married to and all I could say was that I wish her the best of luck in her endeavors. Truth is I'm crushed and hurting inside knowing that I will probably never see this woman that love ever again.

      • Sorry this happened to both of you, but, it might be time for some reflection. This may have happened for the best. You might have been close to getting caught, losing your job, any number of nasty things. Time will heal you, and you'll always have your memories.

      • Awww want a pity party? We don’t care. She left because it’s all your fault, and you know that. Her desk will be empty and you will never smell her perfume again...see her walk the hall to the copier....no more quickies in the store room...because of what you did.
