This may just be me being grumpy about what happened to me, but when girls joke and or actually show that they like you, without being nervous or such, its usually just a joke. Maybe not a cruel one, but a joke. For instance, what happened to me is a girl hugged me regularly, and we hung out during lunch. I asked her out, and she said no and now she thinks I am some creeper fucking loser and blocked me on every website I was following/friends with her on. But, if you think this girl really likes you, go for it.
Try to get alcohol involved that always works. But the movie idea is good. Once you get really close it will just happen.
