Kathleen ate her breakfast and I saw her off. I fell into the home school routine rather surprisingly easy. Kathleen would drive me to my therapy sessions late in the afternoon twice a week and she would massage me with lotion almost nightly to keep my muscles and joints from stiffening up. It worked the opposite on stiffening one muscle in particular though and she’d see to it that it was tended to.
It took weeks for all the bruising to begin to fade away.
She loved to fill our evenings with brain games like Luminosity, Elevate and Peak or lay on my lap or in bed and listen while I read from Witmans Leaves of Grass and other inspirational or romantic novels which would then lead to her on top of me kissing and fucking me slowly and gently into oblivion. She was always careful to not put her weight on me while I was recovering.
Some evenings we’d just cuddle up in front of the fireplace with cocktails and talk about our childhood’s or she was into politics something I’d never dwelt upon. So I reckon this was my political science course LOL. But she was very intelligent down to earth and loved fiercely for my experience with her. She’d speak with me on many subjects and introduce me to other points of view and critical thinking. And there were the conversations on man and woman, children and college.
It was all so surreal. We were so oblivious as to the situation hadn’t really changed at all. We were cocooned up in our own alternate dimension where Kathleen was in total control and protective of any outside perils. I tried not to think about anything except her, my schoolwork and getting back on my feet. I couldn’t help but try to steel my resolve of the situation in the hope to save my soul in the event of a derailment. For now I had to keep focus on her. I couldn’t let anything happen to her that would adversely affect her life because of me. I would be absolutely devastated.
One weekend Kathleen asked me if I’d like to go out. So Julio she said, I imagine you’re getting cabin fever cooped up in here day after day huh? Haven’t given it much thought ma’am with what’s on my plate but I reckon so. How about a trip to the mall and then I’ll treat you to dinner? Y’all aren’t concerned about bein seen together girl? I asked. Not really Julio, it’s a possibility but no.
It was late December New Year’s Eve and Kathleen was feeling festive.
We’ll hit the mall, do a little shopping, have dinner and then hit the liquor store for our new year celebration tonight she beamed. My ribs and internals were healing up pretty good so I was getting around much easier. My leg was due in 2 weeks to come out of cast so I was using crutches still for walking.
So we got ready and off we went. It was 11am when we hit the parking lot and it was busy. I hustled to the door to hold it for her, thank you Julio Kathleen smiled, yes ma’am I nodded back. Let go to Up’s and Down’s first she said as I pinballed my way through the maze of people, her on my arm. Be careful! She said. Don’t get knocked down! I said, I’m aiight girl. Up’s and Down’s was an eclectic trendy young woman’s apparel place, right up her alley.
I found a stool to lean on as she tried on various collections of top and bottoms to create outfits to show me, I brought out the teenager in her I reckon and I loved watching her expressions waiting for my approval or disapproval.
After about an hour of that and three bags of clothing she said, let’s go over to Boot Barn and look at some western style clothes for you! Aww y’all don’t have to buy me nothin girl I said. I know I don’t have to Julio but we’re going to go and see what we can find, she scolded. Yes ma’am I said rolling my eyes.
Kathleen was just as excited for me to try on stuff she wanted to see me in as she was for herself. Here try these she’d say holding out a shirt and or pants. Do you like this style? I don’t have a style baby I laughed. Oh you definitely have a style Julio she said looking around. It wasn’t easy for me to try on pants with my leg in a cast. She came into the dressing room to help us yelling and arguing playfully laughing and making quite the escapade of it. At the end of it all she’d gotten 3 outfits and I got two sets of pant shirts a cowboy hat and a pair of boots. On the way out she spied this western jacket she said was a must have for me so she made me try it on and that was it.
How much did y’all just spend girl if y’all don’t mind me asking? It’s nothing Julio don’t worry about it. I gave her the look. OK! She said, $400. Holy shit girl y’all don’t make that kind of money! You don’t know what I make young man it’s none of your business! She scolded, but it’s on my credit card.
Sorry girl I’m just concerned about things. Well don’t be she said throwing her arms around my neck kissing me. Just be happy for our time together.
I’m thankful more than you know girl.
What are your thoughts on food, she asked as we exited the store. I’m not particular Kathleen is said I don’t even know what’s around here. How about some king crab? There’s a really good sea food restaurant called Devon she said we could go there? Hey babe whatever y’all want I’m down. Devon it is then she said.
As we walked in I could tell it was an upscale joint. I feel out of place dressed like this I said. Nonsense said Kathleen. She of course shined like a new dime. Table for two the hostess asked. Booth please ma’am, I said. Of course, right this way sir. She was a sweet thing and gave me a bright smile looking me up and down. What happened she quipped. Snowmobile accident ma’am I said. Oh my, will you be alright? Y’all shoulda seen me a month ago I’m golden today I joked. Well I hope you heal up soon sir she smiled again. Yes ma’am thank y’all. And a southern gentleman too! She laughed.
Here we are, your server will be right with you. Yes ma’am.
There’s that charm again Kathleen smiled. I just shrugged and put my arms up. It does feel good to get out babe thank y’all so much and the clothes. I want to dress you up Julio you look so handsome.
So Kathleen y’all want king crab? Holy shit girl I said, it’s $85! Yes Julio she said but that’s for a serving for two.
Let’s order the Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer. Sounds good I said.
Just then our waitress approached. Hello I’m Erica can I start you out with some drinks? I’ll have an Arnold Palmer minus the alcohol please she’ll have a double Tito’s 3 olives. Yes sir coming right up. Thank you ma’am I said.
Double Tito’s? Said Kathleen. Hey it’s new years and I don’t want to risk getting carded in here let’s pay it safe. Beside we have all evening to get liquored up. Erica returned with our drinks. Are you ready to order? Yes ma’am I said we’ll have the king crab with the Oysters Rockefeller appetizer. Excellent she said the crab comes with red potatoes and corn on the cob or you could have garlic mashed potatoes. I’ll have the red I said, garlic mashed for me Kathleen said. I’ll have that right up Erica smiled.
I’ve been thinking Julio, how would you feel about some part time work to get you out of the condo more, Kathleen asked. I don’t know what could I do? Well I know the manager at the LA Fitness I used to work out at. I’m still a member just haven’t been able to get there since I was living over the mountain but now that we’re here. I was thinking front desk perhaps. You wouldn’t have to move around much just check in and answer phones or sales which is a desk job? You’d make a good desk boy! She taunted laughing. I gave her the look. Desk boy? You’d be perfect for it being so handsome and charming she laughed more. Actually I’ve had some very naughty fantasies for awhile of sneaking you in under my desk at school so you could have your tongue in between my thighs during class! Really! When did y’all come up with that idea naughty girl? Oh way early on Julio when we first got involved. I wanted to make you my oral sex slave! She giggled. Since you’re so good at it! Didn’t know y’all had it in you princess. I joked.
Just then as we were cracking up a girl classmate came up out of nowhere. Oh-my-god Julian! It’s you! Uhh yeah….I stammered, looking around shocked… it’s me, I think. Hello Susan how are you? How am I? My god Julian how are you? How have you been? I’ve been wondering what happened to you? Everyone said you were in a terrible accident! Some said you wouldn’t make it! She said starting to get emotional. Uhmm yeah…Kathleen this my friend Miss Susan Stiger, Susan I’m sure you know who Miss Kathleen is. Yes, yes I have class with her! I’m sorry for interrupting your dinner I was just so worried about you! I haven’t heard anything from you. Nice to see you Susan Kathleen said looking at me quite inquisitively. Please! Sit! Kathleen said. Susan sat down looking intently into my eyes. Look I’m sorry Susan but since the accident it’s been quite the whirlwind. But that was a month ago and what happened to you after the spring dance you’ve never even called me. That’s a conversation for another time Susan. Right now I’m just trying to get back on my feet. Yes you’re right I almost died. I’m having to be home schooled now and with therapy and all my plate is really full. I’m really sorry. I’ve had a lot of injuries to overcome.
Susan looked at us both. So what are you two doing here? Trying to have lunch Susan I said and you? Oh I’m here with my dad, Julian. He’s right over there she pointed him out. I looked over and waved, Mr Stiger smiled and waved back. I remembered him now from me being at his house to take Susan to the spring school dance. I’d forgotten all about it and hadn’t even told Kathleen. No I mean what are you two doing together. Here. Now. Having lunch together I’m confused said Susan. Well for one I said Kathleen helped set up my home schooling. Wait. Susan have your father join us since we’re having this conversation it’s going to take a minute.
