Like The Moon But Darker

I was watching this documentary once where a very experienced police detective or maybe FBI profiler, I forget, was saying that EVERYONE has 3 selfs. The public self you let the world see, like work and community. The private self that only family and close friends get to see. And then the closed self that absolutely nobody gets to see and wouldn't recognize if they did. That rang pretty true for me. Not that I'm doing anything awful or illegal, but definitely sexual stuff that's just for me. He was keeping it simple to make the point I think but I'd say there's at least another level in between private and closed, where you share extremely personal and intimate stuff with one person like a spouse or partner, but even with them not the closed self stuff. Psycho!ogy is complex and fascinating.

I would have agreed with you 2 years ago but now I have someone I trust completely. I’ve told her everything there is to know about me (EVERYTHING!!). I believe she’s done the same.
