I did this for my uncle and aunt. My uncle ( mom's brother) married to a very attractive younger woman. She wanted kids but they found out he was sterile. This was almost 50 years ago and things being what they were my uncle and mom cooked up a skeam for me to stay with them for the summer because I was the closest living relative and looked a lot like my uncle. I was 15 at the time and Nancy was 30 . I had no idea how much fun and how much my eyes were going to be opened that summer. My cousin/ son is 48 now and as far as I know he doesn't know that I'm his real father. Nancy and I tried to get her pregnant again over the years but it never took.

At young age, I had cervical cancer and I've always known I can't have kids. My husband has always been aware and we were planning on adoption but it was too expensive.
My younger sister volunteered to surrogate for us. My husband's sperm & her egg. At the time, my sister was divorced and already given birth twice so we knew she was healthy. My sister's insurance would also cover the cost of the pregnancy and delivery too.
We had everything planned through the doctor's office and a lawyer until the pandemic hit. The clinic told us they didn't know when they would be able to reschedule.
Since everything was on lockdown. My sister told me she was ovulating and suggested my husband could 'knock her up' the old fashioned way. The three of us agreed. She brought her kids over for me to babysit and they went to her house. They would only have sex the week she was ovulating.
After three months, I was beginning to get suspicious because she hadn't become pregnant. Then it happened. She became pregnant. My husband and I have a beautiful daughter.

Not being racist but that's one angle my husband is concerned with. He doesn't trust the sperm bank will give us the correct sperm and I will give birth to a half African American or Asian.

Depends on your insurance situation, the costs, and how important it is to know the donor or not. If it is not a big deal with your husband (but it sounds like it is), and the goal is solely having a child, I'd say get together with your ex. Otherwise go anonymous. We were in a similar spot, but not with an ex, but we got help from my husband's younger brother. Same gene pool. And my little "dates" with his brother to get me pregnant were very fun and hot on my end. Very enjoyable, and after a few sessions the job got done and we had our child.

The cost of the clinic, donor sperm and insemination is on us.
The clinic ensures us the donor lives miles away. I was shocked how much information you get access to regarding the donor. Definitely no name or a photo but the description is very detailed along with his medical history and how many times his product has been purchased. Seriously! They tell you that too!
I'm sorry but just can't bring my self mentally to have some random guy's sperm, which I've never met, injected into my body.
I could live with a ONS easier. Just because I would have met the guy and made some sort of connection within the short time. No to mention the 'fun' part before hand as well. lol

If we were in the same situation, I would suggest that my wife have sex with her ex. My only condition would be that I was present to make sure he was treating her respectfully. I would also make him sign a legal document with a lawyer stating that he would have no rights to the child. I would be unsure if I wanted him to ever see the child. But would want to get all of his medical background. I wish you luck and happiness with your decision. I also wouldn't want a doctor to inject another man's sperm in her if I had any say in it.

Would you be open to being artificially inseminated with your ex's sperm? That might alleviate some of your husband's hesitancy about you getting pregnant the traditional way with your ex.

I know I'm probably being difficult but it's turned into a psychological thing for me.
The thought's of a complete stranger's sperm being injected inside my body is freaking me out.
I'm fine being injected with my ex's sperm. I wouldn't have an issue with it at all but let's be real. We used to live together. We've had sex before and lots of it. Why should both of us go to a doctor's office in separate rooms when the end result would be his sperm injected inside me.

I pitched the idea to my doctor. She admitted the odds of getting pregnant are better that way because of the natural arousal factors.
