My mom hooked up with a girl a year younger than me. FML.
I was supposed to spend the weekend at my dad’s, but he tested positive at the last minute so I had to drive back to my mom’s. I saw a car I didn’t recognize parked in the front. I let myself in and saw a small suitcase next to the front door. I called out to say I was home and nobody answered, so I headed to my room, and that’s when I heard them.
It was the voice of my mom, and another woman, either having sex or having the most exhausting yoga class anyone has ever had … and also having sex.
I closed the door to my room, put my headphones on, and did some homework while listening to a movie. As much as I tried not to hear them, I still could. And they were going at it for a long, long time. They finally stopped a solid hour after I got home, and I honestly just sighed because I was that glad they were finally DONE. I waited a couple minutes, figured they were sleeping because I couldn’t hear them moving around, and went to get a water from the fridge.
I was almost, almost back to my room when I saw the girl come down the stairs—wearing one of MY old shirts. I say “girl” because, well, that’s what she was. She was old enough to drive, but she was YOUNG. She was even more startled to look up and see ME, and then we both just stood there and said hi, like idiots. She called my mom downstairs, and my mom for sure heard HER voice, and we had a very long, awkward, and mostly silent introduction.
They’ve been seeing each other for a year. A YEAR. She’s a year younger than me. A YEAR. My mom first hooked up with her before she could DRIVE. She helps with her homework! She LETS HER WEAR MY CLOTHES after they have sex. And after our weird little talk, they went back upstairs to cuddle … and then I heard them have sex again.
And later that night, after round two or three or whatever they'd just finished, this girl, this fucking girl, kisses me on the lips when my mom isn't looking and asks if I want to join them later. And when I tell my mom, she just rolls her eyes and says she'll "talk to her."
I’m livid. I can’t help but think about it, and that just gets me angrier and angrier.
