The Apprentice and the Sea

The summer after I finished secondary school my father arranged for me to work on a trawler. The crew was five, plus me the apprentice. Usually you serve a couple of years as an apprentice until another apprentice comes along and you move up to lowest level deck hand. The captain has a bunk and the crew we all slept in hammocks over the engine room.

Once the boat got out to sea, away from land, the Captain had first rights and he fucked me. My father had prepared me and given me a large tube of 'ass grease'; After the Captain they went down the line from Mate to last year's apprentice. One by one, I got permission to grease up before the next one had his turn.

I liked everyone, but I liked the Captain the most. Maybe because he had the rights and he broke me in. We got back in late summer with the catch, everyman on board had his penis sucked, and every man had their last turn, and the 'grease' had been gone after the first couple of weeks.

Back on shore, standing in line I could tell I had been to sea. The Captain gave me my pay and told me to say hi to my father and if I was of the mind to it, he was going out again in a couple of weeks.
