I gave my mom a ring - Update
About a month ago, I made a post here about how I’d gotten my mom a ring and was wondering whether I should “propose.” I’m putting that in quotes because I know we can’t really get married, but also, it feels like that. We’ve been together as a couple for almost three years, and it feels more real and safe and permanent than any of my other relationships.
Well, anyway, right before New Year’s, I got down on one knee and did the most awkward proposal ever, and when the shock wore off she smiled and put the ring on and said yes.
Whatever this relationship is, I’m in it for the long haul, lol. She’s not legally my wife and I’m not legally hers, but as far as I’m concerned she’s MINE and I’m HERS. We’re thinking of having a little ceremony soon—very little, there are like twelve people we know who we’d trust with this right now—and maybe if we can both find new jobs in another state we can make that move and sort of “reset” things and present as just another age-gap lesbian/queer couple. But whatever happens, we are doing it TOGETHER.
Also, turns out the ring I got her was comically huge—like, mob capo’s ring huge—and we had to get it resized, because I’m just classy like that.
I love this a beautiful love story ❤️
I have a story up along these lines. My son and I are in the same situation. We relocated and no one here knows us as anything but a regular couple with a reverse age gap. I’ve given him a son and couldn’t be happier
Good for you, happy to hear it
